(SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies will try to remain undefeated this season when they welcome the New Orleans Pelicans to the FedExForum for a Southwest Division matchup. The Grizzlies have done it on the defensive end, as expected, this season. After surrendering 101 points in the season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis has allowed 89 and 69 points since. The 69 points allowed came in a two-point road victory Saturday night against the Charlotte Hornets in a game only a mother could love. The Grizzlies big-man combo of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph led the way. Gasol scored a game-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds, while Randolph chipped in 12 points and 12 boards. Whether it was good defense or bad offense, points were bard to come by. Both teams shot 36 percent from the floor and combined for 39 turnovers -- 20 coming from Charlotte. I am really proud of our guys. To go 2-1 on your first week, Id be high- fiving you, but to go 3-0 and beating Indiana on the road is very good. Charlotte is a top-five team in the east, said Memphis coach Dave Joerger. Courtney Lee sat out the game with concussion symptoms and could be available Monday night. The Pelicans fell to 1-1 on the season after a 109-104 home setback to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday. Anthony Davis finished with 31 points, 15 rebounds and three blocked shots in a truly amazing performance. He is now second in the league in scoring at 28.5 ppg. New Orleans hadnt played since opening the season on Tuesday night, but it was a different Pelicans team in the second half. New Orleans dominated the third quarter to the tune of a 37-20 scoring disparity. The Pelicans took the lead to start the last, but Dallas won the final 12 minutes, 23-15. I was really encouraged and excited by the way we played in the second half, Pelicans coach Monty Williams said after Sundays practice. That was plenty of support as long as Minor was in the game. He allowed two runs and seven hits over seven innings, and his 11 strikeouts were one short of a career high. Minor had given up 11 runs and 22 hits over nine innings in his previous two starts. The Braves fouled pitches and worked the count so successfully that Strasburg had thrown 107 pitches by the time he was pulled after six innings, even though he didnt walk a batter. He allowed nine hits -- tying a career high -- and struck out eight. Minor, by contrast, was able to finish off the Nationals batters. He gave up Ian Desmonds mammoth homer in the second inning -- the ball landed only a row or two from the cherry trees behind the left-field bleachers -- and Denard Spans RBI triple in the seventh. Minors performance nearly got him his first win since May 19. "Ninety-nine per cent of the time," Gonzalez said, "he gets a W there."
